Who is The Observer

Is this an Alien, a Government Organization, or something in between? What is the cone? What were those weapons shooting? Some have suggested, that the observer is writing in a language called Minoan, an ancient Greek language. Could this be an Atlantean? This episode left us with many, MANY more questions then answers. What were some of your observations and what questions do you have after watching this episode?

Fringe Rakes in the Ratings

In sharp contrast to the current downturn in the financial markets, Fringe experienced a ratings upswing last night, drawing in 13.36 million people. This is good news, and shows that the time slot that Fringe occupies after House is working. This is a 48% increase over the just under 10 million viewers Fringe pulled in for its premier episode.

Hopefully, this trend will continue and we will be able to enjoy this show for many moons. What do you is Fring going to stick around?

Thoughts on "The Same Old Story"

Last night brought us the second episode of Fringe and with that second episode but us more questions on what exactly is "The Pattern". Some of the main questions that i have after this episode are:

1. What role does the group that Phillip Broyles was briefing, only 45 minutes after the woman gave birth, have to play?

2. What happened to the first investigative team that Broyles mentions in this briefing to "The Group"?

3. Why is it that "The Group" is contacted and convened, before the investigative team?

4. The last scene seems to indicate that the work, started by Dr. Bishop, to grow an army of soldiers in three years is continuing. Who is carrying out this continued research and what will these grown soldiers be used for?

Massive Dynamic Building Redesign

There were some subtle differences noted between the leaked version of episode one and the premier last night. The one of greatest note was the look of the Massive Dynamic building. In the leaked version the building was very futuristic looking and was created using the Royal Ontario Museum as a reference. However, in the official episode one, Massive Dynamic is just a plain glass facade building. What building design do you prefer?

Massive Dynamic Allied With Credit Dauphine???

The premise of Massive Dynamic as a global corporation with vast ties to just about everything just cries out "BAD GUY", but I was holding out hope (and I still am) that there may be a sliver of good within Massive Dynamic, but with the latest ad from the Fringe comic book tie in, that hypothesis lies in doubt.

In the comic book there is an advertisement for Massive Dynamic that is brought to us by "MD Outdoors" and "Credit Dauphine". You can find the reference in the above picture right under the "M" in Massive Dynamic.

I haven't been able to dig up anything on MD Outdoors, but Credit Dauphine is a direct tie in to the front organization of SD-6, the covert criminal organization that is destroyed by Sydney Bristol in another of J.J Abrams hit shows, Alias. So, with this new information in hand, it becomes clear that Massive Dynamic is certainly up to no good. Just how deep their machinations go waits to be seen. What do you think?

Strange Events - Commercial Review

The newest commercial for Fringe is called "Strange Events." Take a look at the youtube video of this commercial, uploaded by our friends at FringeTelevision.com.

The interesting thing about this commercial is that there are quite a few scenes that are not any part of episode #1. The scenes that appear in the commercial seem to point to a future episode #?? that deals with a virus, chemical or some other nasty that is causing everyone on a bus to choke to death. Check out these screen captures, also provided by FtingeTelevision.com.

Six Days - Six New Posters to Share

With only six days to go till the premier episode of Fringe, we are pleased to share six more promotional posters.

This first series is in black and white and seems to have some sort of ink blot pattern.

The next series of posters can be merged into one larger poster and the theme for this poster seems to revolve around spheres.

New Tag-Line for FRINGE - ASK. IMAGINE. INVESTIGATE.

Fox has released some new promotional posters for Fringe which proclaim a new tag-line for the show. The photos also have some very interesting designs in them relating to angles, reflections, and refractions.

The other interesting feature of the second set of pictures is the same set of angles in the background, and the fact that the series is meant to form a cylinder.

Has anyone found anything interesting in the series when they are assembled in the cylinder shape?

New Evidence for Case_0091. This time with Tornado Action.

A new piece of evidence was added to the Imagine The Impossibilities Fringe site yesterday. Evidence_0007 is a .gif image of the word "PARKERSBURG" written in braille.

"PARKERSBURG" is a reference to Parkersburg, IA, where an EF5 tornado struck on May 25, 2008. When you click on one of the Braille dots in the final letter "R" you are directed to the two video files that are hosted at real online weather website called WeatherMatrix.net. Below you will find the video files in mention, that someone has downloaded and posted to Youtube.

This is a video from inside a bank of the tornado.

This a video viewing a house destroyed by the tornado.

What connection could this have to Case_91? Is this just more evidence of how far The Pattern has gotten out of control?

Fringe Pilot will be shown at The New York Television Festival

On Saturday, September 13th, the NYTVF and FOX will present a special screening event featuring “Fringe,” the anticipated new hour-long thriller from J.J. Abrams (“Lost”), Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, the team behind “Star Trek,” “Mission: Impossible III” and “Alias.” The event begins with red-carpet arrivals of the stars and producers of the new series followed by a screening. After the screening, “Fringe” cast and producers will engage in a brief discussion about the show’s creation and production in New York City. “Fringe,” currently shooting on location in New York City, is a fantastical thriller about an unlikely trio who uncovers a deadly mystery involving a series of unbelievable events that may be a part of a larger, more disturbing pattern that blurs the line between the possible and the impossible. The series, debuting with a special extended series premiere Tuesday, September 9 (8:00-9:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX, stars Anna Torv, Joshua Jackson, John Noble, Lance Reddick, Kirk Acevedo, Mark Valley, Blair Brown and Jasika Nicole; and is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Bad Robot Productions.

JJ Abrams = Massive Dynamic

What is this we have here? J.J. Abrams has left us a little mystery on the Fringe Division site.

When you get to the site the sub title says;

Fringe Division: The Official Site of the Creative Team Behind The New Fox TV
Show "Fringe"
Sponsored by J.J. Abrams
Then when you scroll over the "Sponsored by J.J. Abrams" text it changes to;

Fringe Division: The Official Site of the Creative Team Behind The New Fox TV
Show "Fringe"
Sponsored by Massive Dynamic

If that weren't enough of a teaser take a look at the code that makes this little change happen.

Fringe Division: The Official Site of the Creative Team Behind The New Fox TV
Show "Fringe"
function hansochange(val)
{
thehanso1.innerHTML =
val;
}

Sponsored by J.J. Abrams
"hansochange" - Do I detect a bit of a cross refrence? What do you make of this?

Massive Dynamics - Seeking Singularity?

I came across an interisting article on Engadget today. The article told of how the CTO of Intel believes that Singularity (the merging of man and machine) will be a reality by 2050. Here is what Intel CTO Justin Rattner actually said.

"The industry has taken much greater strides than anyone ever imagined 40 years ago," Rattner said. "There is speculation that we may be approaching an inflection point where the rate of technology advancements is accelerating at an exponential rate, and machines could even overtake humans in their ability to reason, in the not so distant future."
This got me thinking about what was said at Massive Dynamics by Nina Sharp, when she said:

"We've reached a point where science and technology have advanced at an exponential rate for so long... that it may be far beyond our ability to regulate and control it."
Could it be that Massive Dynamics is the entity behind The Pattern, and that their ultimate goal is a misguided effort to bring about a better world through singularity, no matter what the cost? Could this effort even be out of their control now?

Find the Pattern

There appears to be a significant amount of back story for Fringe related to patterns in nature. In particular the use of Fibonacci numbers is widely used in the promotional commercials for the show.

What will these equations tell us?

Are these numbers (1,1,2,3,5,8,13) going to be for Fringe what (4,8,15,16,23,42) are for Lost?
